The Two Types of Cooks

Cooking is something that some people love, some people hate but mankind cannot do without. When it comes to cooking, there are two types of cooks:

  1. The Prepper: Prepares all ingredients prior to starting cooking usually in different bowls for the various steps. A prepper will have their spices ready and measured out as well as all other ingredients. They spend a little bit of extra time prior to cooking but can just cruise through the actual cooking part.
  2. The Wing-er: Pulls out ingredients as needed. A wing-er is able to jump right into cooking but may have to pause at some steps to get ingredients ready. A wing-er is then further divided based on whether they put things back right away or wait until they’re done with the meal.

They each have their pros and their cons and you can be a bit of each.

I’m usually a wing-er unless I’m making something that a) I haven’t prepped before and it has a lot of small ingredients or b) it’s a recipe that cooks super fast and you need to have things pre measured.

I’m personally a fan of minimal cleanup and time spent in the kitchen so as a wing-er you can reuse measuring utensils and don’t need all those tiny bowls. But, the risk of forgetting something or putting too little or too much of something is higher.

How bout you? What’s your cooking style?
