The Feed Yourself series is dedicated to individuals that cook just for their selves. This goes out to everyone that finds them self wanting to cook but dreading the time, effort, and all the clean up needed to just cook for one. It can honestly be a quick, easy, and enjoyable process!
Steak can be intimidating, and it is not as affordable as other options, but it is very easy to make and a quick option (plus incredibly delicious). When it comes to cut, sirlion is a good option. It is a leaner cut, more affordable, and does not need tenderizing.
To prepare steak:
– Allow to thaw and season (refer to Spices for ideas)
To cook:
– Grilled: place steak on electric grill, close lid, and allow to cook for 7-9 minutes for a steak that is more on the done side.
– Pan seared: heat a frying pan on high until hot (may add a little oil or butter to pan while heating); add steak to pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side depending on how well done you like it (roughly 4-5 minutes per side for a well done 1″ steak)
– Sauteed: Slice steak into thin slices and heat a tablespoon of oil in a frying pan; cook steak until evenly cooked while stirring often (8-10 minutes, until no longer pink)
